Privacy Policy

The short version: your screen-time data never leaves your phone. ScrollRat has no backend, no analytics, and no trackers. The only things that ever reach a server are an email address you give us on purpose (waitlist or contact form) and your subscription status (handled by Apple).
1. Screen time & app usage data
ScrollRat uses Apple's Screen Time technology (Family Controls, Device Activity, and Managed Settings) to see how you use your phone and to block apps you've asked us to block. This data — which apps you use, for how long, what you've blocked, your missions and focus sessions — is processed and stored entirely on your device.
- It is never uploaded, synced, or transmitted anywhere.
- We couldn't read it if we wanted to: Apple's framework identifies apps with opaque tokens that are meaningless outside your device.
- Deleting the app deletes all of it.
2. Notifications
ScrollRat asks for notification permission to nudge you — for example when you're close to your daily screen-time goal or when a blocked app wants your attention. Notification content never names the apps you use; that detail stays inside the app.
3. What does leave your device
- Waitlist & contact form emails — if you submit your email on this website, it is processed by Formspree (our form processor) and delivered to our inbox. We use it only to contact you about ScrollRat. No marketing lists, no resale.
- Subscription status — purchases run through Apple's App Store. We use RevenueCat to validate receipts and know whether your subscription is active. We never see your payment details; Apple keeps those. RevenueCat receives an anonymous app-generated identifier and your purchase history for this app only.
4. What we don't do
- No analytics SDKs, no advertising pixels, no fingerprinting.
- No accounts — there is nothing to sign up for and nothing to breach.
- No selling, renting, or sharing of any data with third parties beyond the two processors named above.
5. This website
This site is static and sets no tracking cookies. Fonts are currently loaded from Google Fonts, which means your browser requests files from Google's servers when the page loads. The waitlist and contact forms submit to Formspree as described above.
6. Your rights
If you're in the EU/EEA (we're based in Belgium, so GDPR applies to us too), you have the right to access, correct, or erase personal data we hold — which is, at most, your email address. Email us and it's gone. App data is under your control: delete the app and it's deleted with it.
7. Children
ScrollRat is not directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect personal data from anyone, children included.
8. Changes
If we ever change how data is handled — for example if a future version adds optional sync — we'll update this policy and note it clearly in the app before anything changes.
